2024 - TREMOR
n 2024, 973 made their robot “Tremor” to compete in FRC’s CRESCENDO. 973 competed in two regionals and went to the Houston World Championship. Their first regional was the Hueneme Port Regional, where they ranked eighth and were semi-finalists. They continued to the San Diego regional where they ranked seventh and were finalists. From there, they moved on to the world championships and ranked tenth in the Johnson Division. They paired with 1796, RoboTigers, 1706, Ratchet Rockers, and 494, Martians to make it to the semi-finals. The first competition in the off-season was Chezy Champs, in which team 973 ranked twenty-sixth and was picked by Team 604, Quixilver, Team 5940, Bread, and Team 3310, Black Hawk Robotics, and were semi-finalists. Tidal Tumble was the next competition on the line with Team 973 ranking thirty second. Finally, at Madtown Throwdown Team 973 was able to push their way to the elimination rounds where they ranked eighth, teaming up with teams 3970, Duncan Dynamics, 5419, Berkelium, and 1678B, Citrus Circuits. |
2023 - MUDSLIDE
In 2023, 973 made their robot "MudSlide" to compete in FRC's CHARGED UP. 973 competed in three regionals and went to the Houston World Championship. Their first regional was the Port Hueneme Regional, where they ranked eleventh out of forty-four teams and were picked by the second seed, Team 3255, The SuperNURDs, and made it to the finals with their other alliance member, Team 4, Elementals. 973’s second regional was the Central Valley Regional, where they won the Autonomous Award sponsored by Ford and ranked second out of thirty-eight, and won the event with their alliance, 1323, Madtown Robotics, and 3557, Arborbotics. 973's third regional was the San Diego Regional, where they won the event. Their first pick was Team 1538, The Holy Cows, and Team 4419, Team Rewind, which helped them gain another regional victory. 973 competed in the Johnson Division, where they ranked fifth out of seventy-eight teams. they were picked by 2075, Enigma Robotics, along with team 9312, NERD Spark, and Team 4607, C.I.S. 973’s alliance won their division, and advanced into the Einstein Round. 973’s alliance ranked third, being eliminated in the quarter-finals |
2022 - WILDFIRE
In 2022, 973 made their robot "WildFire" to compete in FRC's RAPID REACT. 973 competed in three regionals and went to the Houston World Championship. Their first regional was the Port Hueneme Regional, where they ranked fifth out of thirty five teams and were picked by the third seed, 359, Hawaiian Kids, and made it to the finals with their other alliance member, 2945, the Steel Mustangs. 973’s second regional was the Sacramento Regional, where they won the Innovation in Control Award and ranked third out of forty three, and made it to finals with their alliance, 7157, μBotics, and 8020, Cyberpunk. 973's third regional was the Central Valley Regional, where they won the Excellence in Engineering Award and ranked second, they were the first pick of the first seed team, 1323, Madtown Robotics, along with 5817, Uni-Rex, where they went on to win the event. 973 competed in the Newton Division, where they ranked tenth out of seventy six, and they were picked by 2910, Jack in the Bot, 1730, Team Driven, and 5804, TORCH. 973’s alliance won their division elimination bracket, and advanced into the Einstein Round. 973’s alliance ranked thrid, being eliminated in the quarter-finals

2021 - BLACKOUT
With the state still in quarantine in 2021, FRC presented the INFINITE RECHARGE At Home Challenge Event in which, 973 would use the same robot as 2020. Team 973 would ranked two out of our division of thirty teams, and earned the Skills Competition Finalist. Once the state started opening up, FIRST Robotics off-season started appearing, with team 973 being able to compete in three off-season competitions. The first competition back from quarantine was Tidal Tumble, in which team 973 was able to win the event with Team 4414 and Team 599. Chezy Champs was in the next competition on the line with Team 973 coming out victorious once again with Team 4499 and Team 1690. Finally, at Madtown Throwdown Team 973 was able to get another win under their belt with Team 1678, and Team 6657. Team 973 was undefeated throughout the entire of the off-season.

2020 - BLACKOUT
In 2020, 973 made their robot “Blackout” to compete in FRC’s INFINITE RECHARGE and competed in one regional, the Los Angeles North Regional, where they were ranked first out of forty-two. They picked teams 1678, Citrus Circuits, and Team 4, ELEMENT, and went on to win the regional. Unfortunately, before the Greybots could compete in Central Valley Regional, the state shut down events, including robotics competitions because of an increase in cases of the coronavirus in the state of California. This event concluded that all FRC Robotics competitions had to be canceled to protect the public from the coronavirus pandemic.

2019 - FIREBALL
In 2019, 973 made their robot “Fireball” to compete in FRC’s Destination: Deep Space. 973 competed in two regionals and went to the Houston World Championship. Their first regional was the Orange County Regional, where they ranked third out of forty nine and were picked by the first seed, 330, The Beach Bots, and went on to win the regional along with 597, The Wolverines. 973’s second regional was the Sacramento Regional, where they ranked third out of fifty nine, and made it to finals with their alliance, 1072, Harker Robotics, and 3250, Kennedy Robotics. At the Houston World Championship, 973 competed in the Newton Division, where they ranked first out of sixty seven, picked 1323, Madtown Robotics, 5026, Iron Panthers, and 4201, The Vitruvian Bots. 973’s alliance won their division elimination bracket, and advanced into the Einstein Round Robin. In the Einstein Round Robin, 973’s alliance ranked second, going to the Minute Maid Field to face of against 254, The Cheesy Poofs, 3310, Black Hawk Robotics, 6986, PPT Bots, and 948, Newport Robotics Group. 973’s alliance beat 254’s alliance in a tiebreaking match, making 973, 1323, 5026, and 4201 the Houston World Champions.

2018 - HAVOC
In 2018, 973 made their robot “Havoc,” to compete in FRC’s Power Up. 973 competed in two regionals and went to the Houston World Championship. Their first regional was the San Francisco Regional, where they ranked first out of 43, and won the event with their partners 971, Spartan Robotics, and 972, Iron Claw. 973’s second regional was Silicon Valley Regional, where they ranked twentieth out of sixty, and were picked by the first seed, 254, The Cheesy Poofs, and won the regional along with 2367, Lancer Robotics. At the Houston World Championship, 973 competed in the Hopper Division, where they ranked ninth out of sixty eight, and was picked by the second seed, 399, Eagle Robotics, and made it to the quarterfinals of their division along with 3284, Camdenton LASER, and 3970, Duncan Dynamics.

2017 - BLOODHOUND
In 2017, 973 made their robot “Bloodhound,” to compete in FRC’s Steamworks. 973 competed in two regionals and went to the Houston World Championship. Their first regional was the Central Valley Regional, where they ranked fourth and were semi-finalists. They continued on to the Sacramento regional where they ranked third and won the regional with 2543, TitanBot, and 1678, Citrus Circuits. From there, they moved on to the world championships and were able to rank first in the Roebling Division with 1011, CRUSH, 2928, Viking Robotics and 5499, The Bay Orangutans. At the Einstein Field, 973, 1011, 2928, and 5499 were all able to advance to the finals and win the Houston World Championships.

2016 - AVALANCHE
in 2016, 973 made their robot "Avalanche" to compete in FRC's FIRST STRONGHOLD. 973 competed in two regionals this year and made it to the world championships in St. Lois, MO. The Greybot's first regional was the Central Valley Regional where they ranked fifth and made it to the semi-finals with their alliance partners, Team 5137, Iron Kodiaks, and Team 2135, Presentation Invasion. 973's second regional was the Ventura Regional where they ranked second and won both the event and the Quality Award with their alliance partners, Team 330, The Beach Bots, and Team 3925, Ventura Robotics. when the Greybots made it to the world championship they were placed in the Carson division where they ranked first and made it to the semi-finals with their alliance partners, Team 610, Crescent Coyotes, Team 2474, Excel, and Team 319, Big Bad Bob.

2015 - SANDSTORM
in 2015, 973 made their robot "SandStorm" to compete in FRC's RECYCLE RUSH. 973 competed in two regionals this year and made it to the world championships in St. Lois, MO. The Greybot's first regional was the Inland Empire Regional where they ranked fourth and made it to the Quarterfinals with their alliance partners, Team 2485, Overclocked, and Team 1836, The MilkenKnights. 973's second regional was the Los Angeles Regional where they ranked second and won the event with their alliance partners, Team 330, The Beach Bots, and Team 1515, MorTorq. when the Greybots made it to the world championship they were placed in the Carlson division where they ranked seventh and made it to the quarter-finals with their alliance partners, Team 254, The Cheesy Poofs, Team 999, MechaRAMS, and Team 4499, The Highlanders.

2014 - PREDATOR
in 2014, 973 made their robot "Predator" to compete in FRC's AERIAL ASSIST. 973 competed in two regionals this year and made it to the world championships in St. Lois, MO. The Greybot's first regional was the Central Valley Regional where they ranked forty-third and won the event with their alliance partners, Team 254, the Cheezy Poofs, and Team 2135, Presentation Invasion. 973's second regional was the Los Angeles Regional where they ranked tenth and made it to the Finals with their alliance partners, Team 330, The Beach Bots, and Team 980, ThunderBots. when the Greybots made it to the world championship they were placed in the Galileo division where they ranked thirty-first and won the division with their alliance partners, Team 67, The HOT Team, Team 2481, Roboteers, and Team 2363, Triple Helix Robotics. this alliance made it to the Semi-finals of the Einstein round before being eliminated.

in 2013, 973 made their robot "Hurricane" to compete in FRC's ULTIMATE ASCENT. 973 competed in Three regionals this year and made it to the world championships in St. Lois, MO. The Greybot's first regional was the Central Valley Regional where they ranked third and made it to the semi-finals with their alliance partners, Team 1323, MadTown Robotics, and Team 4135, Iron Patriots, 973's second regional was the Los Angeles Regional where they ranked seventh and made it to the Finals with their alliance partners, Team 1717, Penguineers, and Team 1836, The MilkenKnights. the Greybot's third regional was the Silicon Valley Regional where they ranked fourteenth and made it to the Finals with their alliance partners, Team 1868, Space Cookiesand, and Team 4159, CardinalBotics. When the Greybots made it to the world championship they were placed in the Archimedes division where they ranked twenty-sixth and made it to the quarter-finals with their alliance partners, Team 948, NRG (Newport Robotics Group), and Team 20, The Rocketeers.

in 2012, 973 made their robot "Encore" to compete in FRC's REBOUND RUMBLE. 973 competed in two regionals this year and made it to the world championships in St. Lois, MO, the Greybot's first regional was the Los Angeles Regional where they ranked eighth and won the Industrial Design Award. the Greybots made it to the Finals with their alliance partners, Team 294, Beach Cities Robotics, and Team 1836, The MilkenKnights. 973's second regional was the Central Valley Regional where they ranked twenty first and won the Quality Award. 973 made it to the semi-finals with their alliance partners, Team 1662, Raptor Force Engineering, and Team 3501, Firebots. when the Greybots made it to the world championship they were placed in the Archimedes division where they ranked tenth and made it to the quarter-finals with their alliance partners, Team 2648, Infinite Loop, and Team 2557, SOTAbots.

2011 - TITAN
in 2011, 973 made their robot "Titan" to compete in FRC's LOGO MOTION. 973 competed in two competitions this year and won the St. Lois, MO world championship. The Greybot's first competition was the San Diego Regional where they placed seventh and won the Industrial Design Award. 973 made it to the quarter-finals with their alliance members, Team 968, RAWC (Robotics Alliance Of West Covina), and Team 980, ThunderBots. The Greybot's second competition was the Los Angeles regional where they ranked sixth and made it to the semi-finals with their alliance, team 599, the RoboDox, and Team 207, METALCRAFTERS. when the Greybots made it to the world championship they were placed in the Galileo division where they ranked twenty-fifth and won the division with their alliance, team 254, Cheezy Poofs, and team 111, Wild Stang. their alliance moved on to the final Einstein round and faced off against team 2016, the Mighty Monkey Wrenches, and their alliance where 973 won the world championship for the first time in the team's history.

2010 - the BOSS
in 2010, 973 made their robot "B.O.B" to compete in FRC's BREAKAWAY. 973 competed in two regionals in 2010, the first of which being the Silicon Valley regional where the Greybots ranked tenth and made it to the quarter-finals with their alliance partners, team 846, the Funky Monkeys, and team 3129, Green MacHHHHine. The second regional 973 competed in was the Las Vegas regional where they ranked eighth and made it to the finals with their alliance partners, team 987, HIGHROLLERS, and team 585, Cyber Penguins.

2009 - RAPTOR
in 2009, 973 made their robot "Raptor" to compete in FRC's LUNACY. 973 competed in two competitions and the Atlanta, GA world championship. 973's first regional was the Los Angeles regional where the Greybots ranked tenth and were picked by 207, MetalCrafters, along with team 2659, RoboWarriors. the Greybots went on to win the competition with a record of 12-2-1. 973's second regional was the Colorado Regional where they ranked eighth and made it to the quarter-finals with their alliance partners 687, the Nerd Herd, and 1833, Dragons. when the Greybots made it to Atlanta for the world championships, they were placed in the Galileo division where they ranked eleventh and made it to the semi-finals with team 1318, Issaquah Robotics Society, and team 25, Raider Robotix.

2008 - ARMAGEDDON
in 2008, 973 made their robot "Armageddon" to compete in FRC'S FIRST: OVERDRIVE. 973 competed in two regionals in 2008, the first of which being the Silicon Valley Regional where they placed twenty-third out of forty-eight teams, and made it to the quarter-finals. 973's second regional was the Las Vegas Regional, where the Greybots placed fourteenth of forty-two teams. 973 was picked by team 842, Falcon Robotics, along with team 1724, Weber Fever, and went on to make it to the finals.

in 2007, 973 made their robot "RAMPASAUROUS" to compete in FRC's RACK 'N ROLL. 973 competed in two regionals in 2007, their first being the Silicon Valley Regional, where they ranked fourteenth out of forty-eight teams. their second regional was the Davis Sacramento Regional, where 973 ranked thirty-third of thirty-nine teams. |
2006 - B.O.B.
in 2006, 973 made their robot "B.O.B" to compete in FRC's AIM HIGH. 973 competed in one regional in 2006 and in the archenemies division at the Atlanta, GA world championship, a stark contrast to the Houston, TX world championships we have today. 973's first and only regional was the Silicon Valley Regional, where the Greybots went 4-3-0, winning a spot in the world championship. The Greybot's run in the archenemies division was very similar, with a record of 4-3-0, it wasn't quite enough to bring them to the elimination round |
.2004 - UNCLE BUBBA
in 2004, 973 made their robot to "Uncle Bubba" compete in FRC's FIRST FRENZY: Raising the Bar. 973 competed in two competitions in 2004, the Arizona Regional, and the Silicon Valley Regional. the Arizona Regional was first, where the Greybots didn't place high enough to make it to the elimination rounds. in the Silicon Valley Regional, the Greybots won the Leadership in Control Award but again fell just shy of the elimination round. |
2003 - SPOTS
in 2003, 973 Made their robot "Spots" to compete in FRC's STACK ATTACK. 973 competed in two different competitions. Their first regional was the Southern California Regional where they Ranked high enough to make it to the quarter-finals. Their second competition was The Silicon Valley Regional, where they won the Judges Award. Although the team rankings were not recorded back in 2003, we can assume based on different metrics that the Greybots placed in the top ten teams out of forty-six. |
002 - STEWART
In 2002, 973 made their robot "Stewart" to compete in FRC's ZONE ZEAL. 973 debuted with only one competition, the Central Valley Regional, where they won the Rookie All-Star Award. They ranked fifth out of forty-nine and paired up with Team 330, The Beach Bots, and Team 362, The Muses. They fought their way through the qualification rounds, which at the time were 2v2 matches, and made it to the quarter-finals, which were the 3v3 matches we know today. |
