MadTown ThrowDown 2021

MTTD was the Greybots 3rd offseason and we were thankful and stoked to take our whole team. The Greybots brought their main competition bot “Blackout” and their practice bot named “Brownout”. Blackout seeded 1st during qualifications  and brownout seeded 9th. Brownout made it to the semi-finals but lost in  the head-to-head matches with Blackout. Blackout won finals as the alliance captain to   1678 and 6657. Overall the team was impressed with the robot’s performance and we’re excited to win all three of our offseasons and give our new students an opportunity to come to a live event.

Chezy Champs 2021

Chezy Champs was the second offseason our team attended, due to the limited number of people the Greybots could bring, a skeleton crew was sent to compete , while the rest of our team scouted from home. The Greybots brought their main bot “Blackout” and seeded  2nd during qualifications. Blackout was picked by 1690 during alliance selections and we accepted. Our first seeded alliance was 1690, 973, 4499, and 846won finals. This was the first time the Greybots have won Chezy Champs since 2014.

Tidal Tumble 2021

Team 4414 (High Tide) hosted the first annual Tidal Tumble competition , on October 15th -17th in Ventura, CA. The Greybots brought their 2020 bot "Blackout" 973, and their new off season bot 9973  "Brown Out," the sibling to Blackout. This was our first competition since the 2020 Los Angeles Regional and we are very excited to be back to robots. At the end of the qualification rounds, our Blackout seeded  1st and our practice bot seeded 7th. Our practice bot made it to the semi finals but, unfortunately, its journey ended there. Our main bot won the event with 4414 and 599. Overall the team was excited to win their first offseason and was impressed with both 973 and 9973s performance.

 MadTown Throwdown 2019

This year's MadTown Throwdown was an amazing event taking place from November 8 through 10 in 2019. The Greybots brought their legendary in-season bot Fireball along with their practice bot 8973 (973C) and their off-season bot 9973 (973B) which they named "Blip Blop."

Our main season bot Fireball ranked 4 and our practice bot ranked 6 heading into alliance selections. Blip Blop got ranked 30th and ended up not being picked (but he tried his best!). Our practice bot got to semifinals and did pretty well, and our season bot made it to a tie-breaker finals. Fireball and his alliance with 1678, 6465, and 5458 made an excellent attempt and had an exceptional performance.
