It has been a quite an exciting off-season for the Greybots. These past couple of months have been busy as well. The ushering in of new mentors and new students was very substantial to the growth of the team. With these new members, the team participated in two events; one being the SCRRF Fall Classic and the other being the Madtown Throwdown. The new members were summoned into new positions lead by team representatives. Although most of them aren't quite towards success yet, the upcoming days towards the season are anxiously awaiting the opportunity that is being given.
As for the events, the Fall Classic was a huge success for not only the World Champion 2011 bot Titan but also for the newest member of the family-the off-season project Emperor Swerve. The two bots successfully ranked high among the other bots at the competition placing them in the top seeds for elimination. Partnered with 1538, the Holy Cows, the Greybots scored logos to success and a determined champion. A little surprise came about during the awards ceremony where the Greybots were honored with the Spirit Award at the competition as well. I personally believe that it was just the icing on the cake for the entire Greybot team.
The Madtown Thrown is always an exciting event with showings from teams like 254, 968, 971, and 1323-the host of this fantastic event. The Greybots were somewhat shaky going into the event however. The weeks leading up to it were fill of bug testing and multiple mechanical problems that needed to be fixed with Emperor Swerve. Although, the team showed up on competition day ready to compete and take the field by storm. With Emperor Swerve placing at the number 1 seed, we partnered ourselves with team 254, The Cheesy Poofs, and team 841, The BioMechs. Barreling all the way to the finals, the title came down to a 3rd match when the minibots decided the champions. For the alliance, it was a great day to be fast because we ended out on top with a victory.
The 2012 FRC season is coming up and we are all extremely excited for what is in store. Hopefully the GDC came up with a fantastic game this year that really stresses the engineering capability of the Greybots. Kickoff is in just a few short weeks! We're ready, are you!?
